Privacy Policy

When you log in with Discord OAuth2, we collect and store the following information:

• Discord User ID — your unique Discord identifier, used to link your account and track game activity.
• Discord Username — your Discord display name, shown in leaderboards and battle feeds.
• Discord Avatar Hash — used to display your profile picture within the platform.
• Discord Access Token — stored temporarily in a signed JWT cookie (valid for 3 days) to fetch your server memberships. It is never stored in our database.
• Discord Server Memberships — the list of servers shared between you and the BotGuessr bot, used to show you available servers.

When you voluntarily link your GeoGuessr account, we additionally store:

• GeoGuessr User ID — your unique GeoGuessr identifier.
• GeoGuessr Profile URL — the URL of your GeoGuessr profile, used for identity verification.
• GeoGuessr Nickname — your in-game display name.
• Verification Date — the date and time your GeoGuessr account was verified.

As part of the Map Domination game, we collect and store:

• Territory ownership records linked to your Discord User ID.
• Battle history (attacks and defenses), including timestamps and outcomes.
• Daily attack usage counters.
• Leaderboard statistics (territories, wins, losses).

This data is necessary for the game to function and is visible to other players within the same Discord server.

We use a single HTTP cookie named session to maintain your login state. This cookie:

• Contains a signed JWT token with your Discord identity data.
• Expires after 3 days.
• Is not used for advertising or tracking purposes.
• Is required for the platform to function; without it, you cannot log in.

We do not use third-party tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies of any kind.

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Authenticate your identity through Discord.
• Display your profile, nickname, and avatar within the platform.
• Run the Map Domination game — recording battles, territory ownership, and rankings.
• Verify your GeoGuessr identity when you request account linking.
• Show server-specific leaderboards to other members of the same Discord server.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.

BotGuessr integrates with the following external services:

• Discord — for authentication and server membership data. Subject to Discord's Privacy Policy.
• GeoGuessr — for account linking and score verification. Subject to GeoGuessr's Privacy Policy.
• Railway — our hosting provider, where our application and database run. Subject to Railway's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare — used as DNS proxy and CDN. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

• Session cookies expire automatically after 3 days.
• Game activity data (battles, territory records) is retained for as long as the associated Discord server is active on the platform.
• GeoGuessr link data is retained until you request its deletion.

You have the right to:

• Request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us on our Discord server.
• Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Revoke Discord OAuth2 authorization at any time from your Discord Authorized Apps settings.
